Let Those Who Worship Evil’s Might Beware The Trailer…Green Lantern: First Flight!

Green Lantern First Flight

The first trailer for the latest DC Universe animated movie, Green Lantern: First Flight has debuted on Yahoo! Movies and can be viewed by clicking the link. The official synopsis reads :

Green Lantern: First Flight finds Hal Jordan recruited to join the Green Lantern Corps and placed under the supervision of respected senior Lantern Sinestro. However, Jordan soon discovers his mentor is actually the central figure in a secret conspiracy that threatens the philosophies, traditions and hierarchy of the entire Green Lantern Corps. Jordan must quickly hone his newfound powers and combat the treasonous Lanterns within the ranks to maintain order in the universe

The trailer is short but sweet! I have loved all of DC’s recent animated films from last year’s Justice League: New Frontier and Batman:Gotham Knight to this year’s surprisingly bad ass Wonder Woman. They have definitely raised the bar and I love where they are going with Green Lantern’s first solo feature.

Certainly what makes him stand apart from DC’s other major heroes is that his adventures extend far beyond earths borders out into the greater universe. I’m thrilled to see they are making full use of this with what is looking to be a nearly full fledged space opera!  I only hope his live action feature debut takes the same cue. While we will have to wait till December 2010 to see him on the big screen we get to significantly whet our appetites when Green Lantern:First Flight hits Blu-Ray and DVD July 21st.
